Volunteer
Each week we provide Scouting activities to over 1000 young people across Stourbridge and the surrounding area. Due to the increasing numbers of children waiting to join Scouting in and around Stourbridge, we urgently need adult volunteers to help us to deliver the everyday adventure Scouting offers.
We can provide places to more young people with your help! It doesn’t have to be much, the amount of time you give is entirely up to you be that 30 minutes a month to 4 hours a week…we’ve got a role to suit you.
We have many roles on offer, from running or assisting with a busy Beaver, Cub or Scout section, to back office roles such as supporting your local Scout group with administration or fundraising ideas…..the opportunities are endless. Full training is provided where needed, and there’s plenty of support so there’s no need to feel like you’ve jumped in at the deep end.
As well as helping your local group, Scouting is as much fun for the adult volunteers as it is for the young people who attend every week. You can learn new skills such as the traditional Scout skills of camping, fire lighting, backwoods cooking, plus meet new friends and if you’re up for it, go camping, climbing, canoeing, abseiling, go-karting………
As well as gaining externally recognised skills and having a brilliant time, Scouting also offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership. A study found that over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been of relevance to their working or personal lives.
